Family policies
What families ask before a first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and belt tests
Parents are welcome to watch from the bench along the wall. During a belt test we ask families to stay seated and quiet, and to hold photos until the instructor says it's fine.
What to wear and bring
For a first class, wear a plain t-shirt and loose pants. Shoes stay off the mat, jewelry comes off, nails are short and long hair is tied back. Bring a water bottle.
Uniform
A white uniform is bought when you join, and your first belt comes with the joining fee. We'll tell you where to get a uniform; nothing is needed for your first class.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your child, or yourself, home with a fever, a stomach bug or a cough that's getting worse, and come back when you feel well. Tell us at the front desk; please don't send health details through the website.
Drop-off and pickup
Children sign in at the front desk and stay in the dojo until a parent or a named adult comes in for them. We ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close on major holidays and for the occasional storm. Families hear by text and on our enrollment page before class.
Leaving the program
Tell us in writing with 30 days' notice. The month in progress is billed, and we can pause a plan for travel or illness. The details are on the tuition page.
Screens and phones
Phones stay on silent and in bags during class. Filming a class is fine only when the instructor says so, and never of other people's children.
Still have a question?
Ask the front desk. We're glad to talk it through before your first class.
