Children from four to seven train with a parent or grandparent on the mat, in a class of their own on four days a week. You learn the same bow, the same stance and the same first moves, one beside the other.
No experience is needed by either of you. Come in comfortable clothes and the instructor shows you where to stand.

Every student moves at their own pace. Stripes on a belt mark steps along the way, and each family member has their own belt.
Instructors
Three instructors, one dojo. Each class is taught by the same person every week.

Owner and head instructor
Norah opened the dojo for families who want to train in the same room. She leads the parent-and-child class and the Saturday family class.

Senior instructor
Hilton teaches the adult classes and the weekday morning class for adults over 40. Beginners of any age start beside him.

Instructor
Gaspar teaches the kids' and teen classes. He keeps each class moving with short drills and a few games.
From our families
“My daughter and I train side by side on Saturdays. The instructors never rush the little ones, and I have an hour with her that is just ours.”
“I started in my late fifties and worried about the kneeling and the bowing. Hilton showed me what to do before I had to ask.”
“We came as a family of four. Everyone has a class that fits, and the front desk remembers who trains on which night.”
Sample reviews.
Children join the parent-and-child class from age 4, with an adult on the mat. At 7 they can move up to the kids' class, and there is no upper age for adults.
Yes. There is a bench along the wall for parents. In kids' classes you are welcome to watch, and we ask for quiet during belt tests.
A plain t-shirt and loose pants. Shoes stay off the mat, jewelry comes off and long hair is tied back. A uniform and belt come when you join.
Yes. The parent-and-child class is for ages 4 to 7 with an adult on the mat, and the Saturday family class is for all ages. Other classes are by age.
Adults start with six months, then go month to month, and children's plans are month to month. To end a plan, tell us in writing with 30 days' notice. Ask us about pausing for travel or illness.
Come to another class at your level the same month. Parent-and-child pairs can swap into any other parent-and-child class with room.
Pick a class on our enrollment page. Wear something comfortable and we'll show you where to stand.
